Music Circus auditions are just around the corner for the 2015 summer season at Music Circus. We are looking for adult actors and dancers, including local non-union, EMCs and members of Actors’ Equity, to attend auditions the evenings of Thursday, February 26 and Friday, February 27, 2015, as well as a dance call on Saturday, February 28. Children’s auditions will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2015.

Non-Union Local Actors
We are seeking talented adult singers and actors who move well and are local to the Sacramento area. These auditions will take place on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Wells Fargo Pavilion. - Headshots and resumes must be received no later than Wednesday, February 11, 2015.
- Please make sure that your resume includes a working phone number and email address so we may potentially contact you to set up an appointment.
- Per union regulations, applicants must be a local resident within 50 miles of the theatre.
- Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
- Should you be selected for an audition, you will be contacted with your appointment time for the evening of February 25 and given instructions for audition preparation.
- Please do not submit if you are unable to attend an audition held that evening in Sacramento.
Videos and CDs will not be accepted in lieu of an audition.

Members of Actors’ Equity and EMCs should refer to the Casting Call Notice posted online at www.actorsequity.org for information regarding union auditions held in Sacramento on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Wells Fargo Pavilion.
Children’s Auditions (ages 8-15)
Open children’s auditions for participation in Music Circus’ production of Bye Bye Birdie and for California Musical Theatre’s “Broadway Gala” will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2015 4:00pm – 8:00pm by appointment only at the Wells Fargo Pavilion. The audition hotline (916-446-5880 extension 147) is open Tuesday, February 17 between 10:00am – 1:00pm and 2:00pm – 5:00pm, and Wednesday, February 18 from 10:00am – 1:00pm. Please note that no email or voicemail messages will be accepted and no calls will be accepted outside of this time. A limited number of audition slots are available and are filled on a first call, first served basis.
For the audition, each child must be prepared to sing 16 bars of a classical musical theatre song and provide the sheet music in his or her own key. Any male (ages 9-13) interested in being considered for the role of Randolph MacAfee in Bye Bye Birdie will be provided with the specific music he should prepare for the audition. An accompanist will be provided.
Those selected as Broadway Gala Singers (ages 8-15) will participate in a performance at this celebrated event at Memorial Auditorium on May 2, 2015. Each member will need to be available for various weekend and/or evening rehearsals (to be set at a later date) leading up to the event.
Those selected for Bye Bye Birdie will be part of the Music Circus Junior Company (ages 9-13), a three-week fee-based program of the California Musical Theatre Academy, culminating in participation of each performance of the production. The fee for the Junior Company program is $700. Children interested in being considered for the Junior Company must be available from Monday, June 22, 2015 through Sunday, July 12, 2015 for classes, rehearsals, and performances.
Sacramento Dance Call
Music Circus dance auditions for dancers ages 16 and over will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at The Ballroom of Sacramento, 6009 Folsom Boulevard, between 60th and 61st Streets. Appointments are not required and separate audition appointments for dancers will not be scheduled. Check in begins at 9:00am, and the audition will begin promptly at 10:00am. Dancers should be registered, dressed in appropriate dance attire and warmed up by this time. Performers should be prepared to learn dance combinations, and everyone should also bring 16 bars of musical theatre sheet music in his or her own key in the event they are asked to sing. We are looking for dancers proficient in ballet and jazz, and acrobatics is a plus.
California Musical Theatre Casting Policies and Theatre Information
California Musical Theatre actively solicits women and minorities for non-traditional casting opportunities. Music Circus was founded in 1951 as the first professional musical theatre in the round west of the Mississippi. Until 2002, its first-class summer stock productions were presented under a canvas tent, the last of its kind in the country.
