Executive bios
Richard Lewis (Executive Producer) has been associated with California Musical Theatre for 36 years, ever since he was given the job of selling souvenir programs at Music Circus by his father, co-founder Russell Lewis. After earning his B.A. in theatre arts at UCLA, he was production stage manager and lighting designer for Music Circus for 50 productions, before serving as general manager, associate producer and managing director. His stage management career included productions at major musical theatres throughout California, serving as production road manager for Disneyland Is Your Land and three years stage managing industrial productions in New York City. Mr. Lewis is proud to be a member of Actors’ Equity Association. He is president of the board of directors of California Musical Theatre and previously served on the boards of the Arts and Business Council of Sacramento and the National Alliance for Musical Theatre. He is a member of the board of directors of the Downtown Sacramento Partnership. Originally from Santa Monica, Mr. Lewis now lives in Fair Oaks with his wife, Joann, and his three children, Russell, Anna and Joseph.
Pat Schachterle (General Manager/Chief Financial Officer) is responsible for the organization's financial activities. She also serves on the finance committe and reports monthly to the board on the compnay's fiscal health. She develops and manages the annual budget and represents CMT's financial interests with touring productions and box office settlements. Ms. Schachterle holds a bachelor of science in business administration from Sacramento State University. She joined CMT in 1991 with more than 20 years experience as an accountant and controller in private industry. She has served as a volunteer and committee member for the Arts and Business Council of Sacramento.
Marlene Shire-Anderson (Director of Operations and Company Manager) is in her 18th year with California Musical Theatre, having previously worked as a stage manager at The Philadelphia Company in Pennsylvania and at L.A.'s East/West Players, the oldest Asian-American theater in the United States. Before returning to Northern California and working at Music Circus in 1990, she managed a group of doctors offices in Southern California and bookstores in Beverly Hills. Born and raised in Stockton, Marlene is proud of not only being left-handed and having the rarest of blood types, but of being named after Marlene Dietrich
Christopher Bower (Director of Marketing and Public Relations) joined the company in 1995 after a four-year stint with the Sacramento Ballet Association, where he served as the company's first marketing director. He currently supervises a full-time staff of six with responsibility for all of CMT’s marketing, public relations, media relations, promotion and publicity activities. Mr. Bower is a 1988 graduate of University of the Pacific’s School of Business and Public Administration. During the Spring 2003 semester, he was co-instructor of a theatre management course at Cosumnes River College.
